The Peninsula

Taken from my old blog.

After reading a poem recently by Seamus Heaney, it got me thinking a lot about writing. The poem I read, The Peninsula, is primarily abut having writers block. I think we can all say that at some point in our lives, we can't find the right words to say (or write).
The Peninsula is also about noticing the things that are always there. 'The glazed foreshore and silhouetted log'. In other words, don't look past reality, and instead appreciate what's already here.
We then started talking (when I say 'we', I mean my literature teacher trying to get the class interested) about the last stanza. My teacher said that if we have experiences; proper memories, then the words will eventually come. Even if not straight after, they will come. This got me thinking a lot about how I want to write for the rest of my life, but what about? What have I experienced in my meagre eighteen years on Earth? Not much, if I'm honest.
Then I realised that this is why I have probably neglected my blog. I can't write consistently because I don't have much to write about. Almost like I have permanent writers block. I'm interested in many things, and I love reading other blogs, but when it comes to sitting down and beginning a fresh new post, I just can't find the inspiration.
I recently deleted my neglected blog that this post was taken from, and made this one (I kept the name because I like it :)). I think this post explains a little on my feelings of writing, and, as this is what I will be doing on this blog (obviously), I thought it would be a good post to start off with.
And don't get me wrong, I love writing otherwise I would not be sitting here doing it. Sometimes it just gets a little difficult. But if it was easy, it would definitely not be worth it.
